Boldizsar Janko is a Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Notre Dame, with a concurrent appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His research focuses on condensed matter theory, particularly in spintronics, nanoscale superconductivity, and magnetism in quantum systems. He leads the Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team (NIRT), collaborating with institutions including Argonne National Lab and Duke University to explore hybrid materials like superconductor-diluted magnetic semiconductor bilayers.
Education: PhD from Cornell University (1996), University Diploma from Roland Eötvös University, Hungary (1991). Honors include the 2003 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship.
Research interests span vortex dynamics in superconductors, quantum dot behavior, and novel superconductors like MgB₂ and high-temperature superconductors. His work integrates theoretical models with experimental collaborations, addressing applications in spintronics and nanotechnology.
