Dr. Bohdan Luhovyy is a Professor and Department Chair of Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University, Canada. He holds a PhD and MSc from the Ivan Franko National University of L’viv, Ukraine, with postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Toronto.
His research focuses on functional foods, metabolic disease prevention, and sensory perception. The Appetite Lab under his direction develops school meal programs and dysphagia diets, collaborating with local agri-food industries. He teaches courses like Clinical Trials in Food and Nutrition and Food Processing.
Key research areas include food proteins’ role in glycemic control, dairy vs non-dairy snack impacts on children, and sensory evaluation of foods for older adults. He actively engages with community initiatives like the Breakfast Program Association of Fairview.
