Bogdan Topor

Bogdan Topor is a Professor of Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he teaches in the Department of Graphic Arts. Born on May 31, 1959 in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, he graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (Katowice branch) in 1987. Since 1996, he has taught in the Drawing Activities Studio, and he received the title of professor of fine arts in 2005.

His research interests focus on drawing and printmaking as autonomous forms of artistic expression. Topor has developed two major series: 'Study of the Last Supper' and 'Study of Landscape,' treating these themes as continuous processes of analysis of phenomena subject to constant transformation. His work engages with the sacred sphere as an important experience that reaches areas of transcendence, blending universal concepts with personal commentary.

Analysis of his recent publications and exhibitions reveals consistent focus on contemporary drawing practices, graphic arts, and the theoretical dimensions of visual expression. His work spans both traditional techniques like intaglio printing and contemporary explorations of drawing as a medium.

His works are included in prestigious collections including the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Muzeum Archidiecezjalne in Katowice, Muzeum Śląskie, and several international collections. He continues to be actively involved in academic and artistic communities, with recent participation in the 2023 conference 'Miejsce Rysunku - Czwarty Wymiar' as part of the International Triennial of Students' Drawing.
