Dr. Bogdan Stoica is Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment in Neurobiology. He leads research at the Center for Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR), focusing on neuronal cell death mechanisms following central nervous system injuries.
His research program investigates:
- Secondary injury mechanisms after traumatic brain and spinal cord injury
- Microglial activation and neuroinflammation pathways
- Neuroprotective strategies targeting cell cycle activation
- Metabotropic glutamate receptor modulation
His interdisciplinary work spans molecular biology, neuropharmacology, and behavioral neuroscience using rodent models of CNS trauma.
