Dr. Bochra Amina Bahri serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, with dual appointments as Center/Institute Member in the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics and Graduate Program Faculty member. Her research spans plant pathology, focusing on epidemiology, pathogen population genetics, and disease management strategies for economically significant crops like turfgrass, switchgrass, and wheat. Current work integrates genomics and transcriptomics to study plant-pathogen interactions.
- Ph.D., Plant Pathology, University of Paris XI (2008)
- M.S., Plant Protection & Environment, Agro-Paris-Tech (2003)
- Dipl. Ing. Agr., Agronomy, National Institute of Agronomy Tunis (2002)
Her research interests center around:
- Understanding race dynamics in plant-pathogen systems (dollar spot, wheat rusts)
- Identifying resistance genes through GWAS and QTL analysis
- Developing sustainable disease management strategies for Georgia turfgrass and forages
- Exploring plant-associated microbes for eco-friendly disease control
Recent funding projects include:
- NSF CAREER grant (2025-2030) for dollar spot pathogen population genomics
- USDA-NIFA-SCRI UVC light application (2025-2029) for foliar disease control
- Georgia Golf Environmental Foundation blue light trials (2024-2026) for pathogen suppression
