Bobby Benedicto is Associate Professor jointly appointed in Art History & Communication Studies and Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies at McGill University. His research examines intersections of sexuality, race, and death through psychoanalytic frameworks and critical theory. Current book project 'Fatal Sex' challenges reparative approaches in queer theory, exploring erotic negativity's resistance to political recuperation.

- Georges Bataille's theoretical frameworks
- Visual culture and death representations
Leads the Sex in Theory working group and supervises graduate research on death, psychoanalysis, and visual culture. Previous monograph on Manila's gay scene received Ruth Benedict Prize honorable mention.
