Boback Ziaeian

Dr. Boback Ziaeian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, affiliated with the Division of Cardiology. He holds a PhD in Health Policy and Management from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Cardiology fellowship at UCLA.

His research focuses on cardiovascular outcomes disparities, heart failure management, health services research, and quality of care metrics. He has led national studies using registries like GWTG-Stroke and VA databases to analyze trends in hospitalizations, racial disparities, and cost-effectiveness of therapies.

Dr. Ziaeian is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (2018) and American College of Cardiology (2017), and received the UCLA Internal Medicine Residency Program Faculty Mentor of the Year (2020). He serves as Chair-Elect of the 2024 ACC/AHA Committee for Performance Measurement.

He has contributed to major clinical guidelines and performance measures for heart failure and hypertension, and his work on telehealth implementation during the pandemic has been widely cited.
