Bob Sneider is an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies & Contemporary Media and Senior Instructor of Jazz Guitar at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He has been a faculty member since 1997, prior to which he toured with Grammy-winning artist Chuck Mangione and collaborated with notable musicians like Joe Locke and Gary Versace. Sneider holds a degree from the University of Rochester and has performed globally across festivals, concert halls, and jazz clubs.
His research interests focus on jazz performance, composition, and education, with a strong emphasis on contemporary media integration. He has released multiple acclaimed recordings, including Fallen Angel and Nocturne for Ava, often in collaboration with peers such as pianist Paul Hofmann and saxophonist Joe Locke. His work bridges traditional jazz forms with modern creative approaches.
Sneider’s students have excelled in competitions and prestigious programs like YoungArts and the Brubeck Institute. He actively performs with his son Ben and daughter Emily, reflecting his family’s deep engagement with music. His recent projects include The Brockton Beat with his brother John, highlighting regional influences in jazz.
