Dr Bo-jiun Jing is a Senior Research Fellow in the Oxford Taiwan Studies Programme at the University of Oxford's School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA). He holds academic affiliations with the University of Oxford China Centre and St Antony’s College. His research focuses on Taiwan's foreign policy, middle power hedging strategies, and Indo-Pacific geopolitics. He teaches courses on Taiwan studies and co-leads the Study of Contemporary China program.
Dr Jing earned a PhD in International Political Economy from King’s College London, an MA from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a BA from National Taiwan University. His work appears in journals like Asian Survey and Wenti Yu Yanjiu, and he authored Taiwan and Southeast Asia: Opportunities and Constraints of Continued Engagement (2016).
His research explores Taiwan’s cybersecurity policy, EU-Indo-Pacific strategies, and Southeast Asia engagement. Recent publications analyze UK-Taiwan cybersecurity cooperation, Japanese/South Korean responses to US-China competition, and pandemic governance in East Asia. He organizes the Oxford Taiwan Studies Seminar Series and co-founded the ASEAN Plus Journal in Taiwan.
Dr Jing advises postgraduate students across multiple programs and has held roles at the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) and Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School. His work bridges academia and policy, addressing contemporary challenges in cross-strait relations and regional security.
