Bo Lagerqvist is an Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Conservation (UGOT-C). He has played key roles in developing bachelor's and master's programs at UGOT-C and served as Head of Department from 2012-2018. His professional experience includes serving as heritage official at Forsvik industrial heritage site (2004-2009) and moderating the UGOT Heritage Studies initiative that led to the Association of Critical Heritage Studies. Currently, he is the ICOMOS lead scientist for the Charter Alliance project, co-leading Work Package 2.
His research focuses on industrial heritage reinterpretation, sustainable landscape management, and heritage education. Key areas include:
- Industrial heritage conservation methodologies
- Cultural landscape sustainability
- Maritime heritage preservation
- Post-conflict heritage reconciliation
- Cross-cultural knowledge transfer in heritage practices
Recent publications demonstrate evolving focus toward climate-adaptive heritage (2022 waterways study), sustainable landscape management (Balaton Ecomuseum project), and heritage education frameworks. His work consistently bridges theoretical conservation principles with practical community applications, particularly in post-industrial and transitioning economies.
