Blánaid Hicks is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Public Health. She holds fellowships from Queen's Vice Chancellor and Cancer Research UK. Her research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology and cancer epidemiology, leveraging real-world healthcare data to evaluate drug safety and efficacy in cancer contexts.
Key research areas include drug-cancer risk associations and cancer treatment safety, using large-scale databases and statistical methods. Recent work involves spatial cluster analysis tools (ClusterRadar) and drug utilization studies in gabapentinoids and glucagon-like peptide agonists.
