Blanaid Murphy is a prominent figure in choral music and vocal studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), where she serves as a Lecturer in postgraduate choral conducting and Musical Director of the RIAM Chorale. She holds additional roles as director of the Dublin Bach Singers, Carlow Choral Society, and St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Girls’ Choir. Her expertise spans choral direction, adjudication, and consultancy, with notable achievements including collaborations with the Sistine Chapel Choir and leadership in large-scale performances like the 'Messiah Project'.
Her career highlights include directing the Palestrina Choir’s recordings such as O Sacrament Most Holy and leading the RTE Children’s Choir Cór na nÓg. She has also contributed to cultural initiatives like Cavan’s county choir under Culture Cavan. Her work emphasizes Irish musical heritage and sacred choral traditions, reflected in recordings like the award-winning Faith of Our Fathers.
Blánaid has been instrumental in founding choirs such as St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Girls’ Choir and has spearheaded community-driven musical projects across Ireland.
