Dr. Carolyn Dike is a Lecturer at the Conservatory of Music, part of Chapman University's College of Performing Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and an MA in Music History and Literature from California State University, Fullerton. Her research focuses on the sustainability of traditional music practices, particularly Irish traditional singing sessions. She has conducted fieldwork as a participant-observer, exploring how local traditions adapt in modern societies.

Her research has been supported by the prestigious Irish Research Council Postgraduate Grant. She has presented at international conferences, including the International Ballad Conference and the International Council for Traditional Music meetings, and co-organized festivals like the Button Boxes and Moothies Festival and the Sheffield Festival of Village Carols.
Professionally, Dr. Dike is an accomplished mezzo-soprano, performing with groups such as the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific Chorale, and St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir. She currently serves as Music Ministry Assistant and Alto Section Leader at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport Beach.
