Blaise Carron is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Neuchâtel, where he holds the Chair of General Introduction to Law and Law of Obligations. He also serves as Professor of Law at the Faculty of Economics, UniDistance (Swiss distance learning university), and works as Counsel at AGON Partners, a Zurich-based law firm specializing in competition law.
His primary research and teaching interests include:
- Law of obligations
- Contract law
- Construction law
- Lease law
- Competition law
- Economic analysis of law
Professor Carron's Law of Obligations course examines legal relationships between debtors and creditors, covering formation of obligations, effects of obligations (performance and non-performance), extinction, transfer, and modalities of obligations. His General Introduction to Law course presents foundations of law, sources of law, application of law, implementation of law, and specific topics in private and public law.
His scientific recognition includes:
- Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching (2011)
- FSA specialist lawyer certifications in tenancy law (2020) and real estate and construction law (2010)
- Vigener Prize for doctoral work
- Frilex Prize as best degree recipient at University of Fribourg
Professor Carron has held significant administrative roles as Dean (2018-2020) and Vice-Dean (2016-2018) of the Faculty of Law. In 2022, he was a Visiting Researcher at Stanford Law School. His professional experience includes working as Head of the Competition group at Wenger Plattner Avocats and serving as Counsel at AGON Partners, where he specializes in competition law. He has also consulted for SECO on legal cooperation projects in South America and Vietnam.
