Blair Bateman is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Brigham Young University (BYU), affiliated with the Public Humanities program. He previously served as President of the Utah Foreign Language Association (February 2020–March 2021) and participated in the Curriculum Design Committee for the Portuguese DLI Bridge Program (2020–2021). His work includes a notable lecture titled *“Use It or Lose It”* presented at the 26th Annual Language Conference for the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade in Draper, Utah, in March 2015. His research interests span language pedagogy, second language acquisition, and cultural studies, with a focus on Portuguese and Spanish.
