Bjørnar Magnussen serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the Faculty of Humanities, SWPS University in Warsaw. He is a sworn translator specializing in English, Norwegian, and Polish translations, holding the distinction of being the first Norwegian to pass sworn translator exams in both Poland and Norway.
He holds a Master of Science degree and has translated nine books from Polish and English into Norwegian between 2014 and 2021, including "Programmering i skolen" (2019) and "Antikapitalisme. Strategier og muligheter i det 21. århundret, Manifesto" (2021). He co-created the "Engelsk økonomisk ordbok" (Norwegian-English economic dictionary) as an editor at Gyldendal Norsk Forlag and produced Norwegian versions of Polish children's series "Szmatkowe Królewska" and "Agata" with his family.
His research focuses on:
- Translation Studies with emphasis on sworn and specialized translations (legal, economic, technical)
- Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Communication
- Scandinavian Languages pedagogy
- Language Education methodology for Norwegian as a foreign language
- Translation support software applications
- Cultural dimensions in linguistic communication
At SWPS University, he teaches Norwegian writing and communication courses while also serving as an examiner for sworn translator exams at the Norwegian School of Economics.
