Björn Remneland Wikhamn is a Professor in Management and Organization at the Department of Business Administration, School of Business, Economics, and Law, University of Gothenburg. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Gothenburg in 2007 and became docent (Associate Professor) in 2013. His research focuses on open innovation processes, particularly in cross-organizational contexts, with emphasis on corporate innovation hubs, strategy, and small business dynamics. He teaches innovation management, creativity, and sustainable leadership through the Matix program, an advanced course emphasizing interactive learning with partner companies.
His research explores open innovation in industries like pharma, automotive, and video games, with recent work analyzing how large firms collaborate with small entrepreneurial firms. Key themes include paradox management in complex business environments, generative innovation ecosystems, and institutional work in creative industries. He employs qualitative and interactive research methodologies.
Wikhamn’s publications span open innovation frameworks, gender dynamics in innovation, and digital disruption. His work bridges theoretical insights with practical applications, such as the design of innovation hubs and educational programs like Matix that integrate theory with real-world business challenges.
