Björn Melander is Professor of Swedish Language at the Department of Nordic Languages, Uppsala University. He has held this position since 2012 and was promoted to professor in 2003. In addition to his academic roles, Melander has served in various leadership positions including as head of the Department of Nordic Languages, director of Campus Engelska parken, and dean of the Faculty of Language Sciences at Uppsala University.
