Prof. Dr. Björn Alpermann is a Full Professor of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Würzburg's Faculty of Philosophy. He has held this position since 2013 and previously served as a Junior Professor there from 2008–2013. His academic career includes a doctorate in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Cologne (2006) and research stints at the University of California, Berkeley, and Nankai University.
