Professor Bjarne Bogen at the Department of Immunology and Transfusion Medicine, Medical Faculty, University of Oslo, has made groundbreaking contributions to immunology through his work on T and B cell interactions, autoimmune disease mechanisms, and innovative vaccine platforms (Troybodies/Vaccibodies). His research bridges fundamental immunology with translational applications in cancer and infectious diseases.
- Specialist in Immunology & Transfusion Medicine (1991)
- Senior Consultant, Oslo University Hospital-Rikshospitalet (1995–present)
- CoE Centre for Immune Regulation member
Research focuses on:
- Idiotype-driven T-B cell collaboration in autoimmune pathogenesis
- CD4+ T cell-mediated cancer immunosurveillance
- APC-targeted DNA vaccines for influenza, HIV, and myeloma
- Development of Vaccibody technology for enhanced immune responses
Recent publications emphasize multiantigen vaccines with cross-protective potential and tumor-macrophage interactions. His work has been recognized with the Senior Research Award from the U.S. Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Collaboration spans institutions including Harvard, Stanford, and the Centre for Immune Regulation at University of Oslo. Teaching leadership includes authoring a Norwegian immunology textbook and basic immunology instruction for medical students.
