Bjarke Refslund is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Aalborg University, within The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He is affiliated with WISER (Welfare, Innovation, Social Work and Employment Relations) and MIX (Center for Displacement, Migration and Integration). His research focuses on Industrial Relations, Labour Migration, Sociology of Work, and Comparative Political Economy, with recent emphasis on migrant workers' integration into industrial systems and the role of power resources in labour dynamics. He has led or co-led projects like SARU (Scholars at Risk Ukraine), DIGIQUALPUB (Digitalisation and Job Quality), and PROCURFAIR (Public Procurement for Decent Work).
Refslund's work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to decent work and economic growth. He holds the 2020 Sapere Aude legat award. His research explores how migrant workers form collective strategies versus individual approaches, power resource theory applications, and the impact of digitalisation on job quality. He actively participates in conferences, media engagements, and peer reviews, contributing to policy discussions on labour market issues, precarious work, and union strategies.
