Bjarke Oxlund is a Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Social Sciences. His research focuses on applied social science with regional specializations in Denmark, Africa (South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia), and Southeast Asia (Cambodia). Thematic expertise includes health, aging, gender identity, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and methodological innovations in both qualitative and quantitative research.
Research interests emphasize intersections between global health, migration, and social policy. Notable projects explore aging demographics in transnational contexts and LGBTQ+ inclusion in educational settings.
