Prof. Bizuneh Workie is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Delaware State University (DSU), part of the College of Agriculture, Science & Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Tufts University (1996) and completed postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University (1996–1997). His expertise spans electrochemistry, nanomaterials, and environmental chemistry.
Prof. Workie teaches courses such as Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, and Electroanalytical Chemistry. His research focuses on electrochemical reductive grafting of gold nanoparticles, their biomedical applications, and water treatment technologies for perfluorinated contaminants (PFAS). He collaborates extensively with researchers like Dr. Mohamed and Dr. Chehimi, exploring nanoscale patterning and gold-organic thin films.
His recent work includes studying gold nanoparticles’ effects on cell differentiation, photothermal properties of organometallic films, and green synthesis of antibacterial agents. While no specific awards are listed, his publications highlight contributions to electrochemical methods and nanomaterial applications.
