Birthe Frenzel is a doctoral candidate and Researcher at the University of Greifswald, specifically within the Department of Practical Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy. She holds an M.Sc. in Sustainability Geography and Regional Development (2014) and a B.Sc. in Geography and German Language and Literature Studies (2010), both from the University of Vechta.

Her research focuses on sufficiency, post-growth economic models, and the role of food cooperatives in transforming food consumption and distribution practices. She explores how these cooperatives function as social spaces fostering non-growth economic thinking and sustainable urban development initiatives.
Between 2014 and 2016, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Sustainability Science and Applied Geography, contributing to projects like "Schatz an der Küste" and COMTESS. She later received a doctoral scholarship at the Evangelical Study Center Villigst (2016-2018) through the interdisciplinary focus on "Dimensions of Care." Since 2018, she has been a research assistant and doctoral student at the Institute of Philosophy, Department of Practical Philosophy.
Her prior work with the environmental and human rights organization urgewald involved divestment campaigns targeting coal mining's social and ecological impacts. She has also presented at academic lectures and invited talks related to her research areas.
