Birgitte Nordahl Husebye

Birgitte Nordahl Husebye is an Associate Professor at Østfold University College, affiliated with the Faculty of Education and the Department of Natural Sciences, Practical-Aesthetic, Social and Religious Studies (RES). Her work focuses on physical education, didactics, and health-promoting school environments. She holds a Master’s in Sport Science from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and a nursing degree from Østfold University College.

Her academic career includes roles as National Orienteering Coach (2014–2019) and leadership positions in educational boards. She has extensively published on interest-based physical education, learning through movement, and outdoor activities. Notable contributions include co-authoring a curriculum model for holistic physical education and exploring dance integration in teacher training.

Research interests emphasize student-centered approaches, physical activity’s role in health, and interdisciplinary methods. Awards include the Best Research-Based Abstract at the 2014 Public Health Conference. She contributes to teacher education programs and collaborates on health-promotion initiatives.
