Prof. Birgit Spinath is a Professor of Educational Psychology at Heidelberg University since 2004. She holds leadership roles including former Head of the Psychology Department (2020-2022), Dean of the Faculty of Behavioral and Empirical Cultural Sciences (2015-2017), and Member of the University Senate (2014-2017). She also serves as President of the German Psychological Society (DGPs, 2018-2020) and chairs the Leibniz Association's Evaluation Committee (2023-2025).
Her research focuses on learning processes, motivational factors, teacher education, and institutional research in higher education. Key interests include pandemic impacts on education, student-teacher dynamics, and quality assurance in academic programs.
Publications span educational psychology, learning strategies, and institutional analysis.
