Birgit Schippers

Dr. Birgit Schippers serves as a Visiting Research Fellow at Strathclyde Law School, University of Strathclyde, with her appointment running from 1 February to 30 April 2026.

Her research critically investigates the legal and societal implications of emerging technologies, with primary focus on biometric systems and artificial intelligence. She specializes in analyzing how these technologies intersect with fundamental human rights protections and democratic institutions, developing critical legal frameworks for technology governance.
