Birago Amofa

Birago Amofa is a Lecturer in the Supply Chain Management Department at the Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK, currently completing her PhD in Sustainable Supply Chain Management while actively teaching and conducting research.

Her educational background includes:

• PhD in Sustainable Supply Chain Management (in progress, 2020-2025) from Robert Gordon University
• MSc in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management with Distinction (2020) from Robert Gordon University
• BSc in Biochemistry (2006) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana

Birago's research focuses on sustainability in businesses, particularly Micro Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs), new trends in supply chain management practice, and research related to developing economies. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in diverse industries including FMCG, Pharma, and Horticultural and Fertilizer Production. She is adept in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and has developed expertise in applying research tools to enhance scholarly outputs.

Her recent publications demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach connecting supply chain management with emerging technologies, showing a clear trajectory toward examining sustainability challenges and the impact of artificial intelligence on educational practices across different economic contexts.

Her professional recognitions include:

• CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply Certificate (2024) with specializations in Environmental procurement, Fraud/bribery/corruption prevention, and Human rights
• Full membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) (2020)

With over 12 years of international industry experience, Birago has held significant roles including Sustainable Supply Chain Manager responsible for Compliance and Certification; Warehouse Operations Manager for a UNAID funded Antiretroviral Drugs Program; Demand Planning Manager for portfolios exceeding £20 million annual demand; and Business Support Manager. She actively supervises Capstone research for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across multiple delivery modes (full-time, part-time, online distance learning), bringing real-world insights to her academic supervision.

Birago teaches several key modules including Purchasing Principles and Law (BSM022), Operations Management (BSM311), Supply Chain Management (BSM523), Quality Management (BSM522), and Health and Safety Management (BS3652), demonstrating her comprehensive expertise across the supply chain management curriculum.
