معرفی
Binyam Mogessie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University. He holds affiliations with the Yale Cancer Center, Yale Stem Cell Center, and the WRHR Advisory Committee. His research focuses on cytoskeletal mechanisms in female meiosis and reproductive aging, particularly exploring how actin and microtubule dynamics influence chromosome segregation and genomic integrity in oocytes and embryos.
Education: BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Jacobs University Bremen (2007), PhD in Cell Biology from the University of London (2011), followed by postdoctoral training at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (2015) and the Max Planck Institute (2017). Established an independent lab at the University of Bristol in 2019 before joining Yale in 2022.
Research interests include nuclear actin dynamics, oocyte aging, and mechanisms preventing aneuploidy. His lab uses advanced microscopy and protein degradation tools to study cytoskeletal interactions during meiosis and early embryonic development.
Key awards include the Pew Scholar (2024), Vallee Scholar (2024), and SRF Emerging Investigator Award (2023). His work has been published in Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Developmental Cell.
Professional activities include editorial roles in eLife, Molecular Human Reproduction, and Trends in Cell Biology. He advocates for diversity in science, emphasizing representation to combat systemic inequities.
