Bingfei Yu

Bingfei Yu is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California, leading a research laboratory focused on immune system biology. Her work bridges molecular immunology and engineering approaches to investigate fundamental mechanisms of immune recognition and epigenetic regulation.

Her research program explores two primary areas: 1) Development of engineered platforms like PACK-IT for high-resolution mapping of receptor-ligand interactions using single-cell genomics, and 2) Examination of X-chromosome inactivation mechanisms in immune cells and their role in sex-based differences in autoimmune disorders. Her technical innovations include CRISPR-based cell engineering and single-cell analytical methods.

Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on epigenetic regulation of T and B cell function, particularly through chromatin architecture proteins (CTCF) and non-coding RNAs (XIST).
