Bing Chen

Bing Chen is Professor of Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds the UArctic Research Chair in Marine and Coastal Environmental Engineering and directs multiple research centers.

Education:

• PhD in Environmental Engineering, University of Regina
• MSc in Environmental Science, Peking University
• BEng in Environmental Engineering, Jilin University

Research focuses on environmental emergency response, marine pollution control, advanced water treatment technologies, and environmental nanotechnology. His work integrates engineering solutions with AI-aided decision support systems for environmental management.

Publications address oil spill response strategies, microplastic pollution, and sustainable water treatment methods. Recent work develops microreactor systems for contaminant degradation and machine learning models for spill response optimization.
