Bin Zheng

Bin Zheng is a Lecturer in Chinese Language and Literature at the Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of British Columbia (UBC). She has taught both language and literature courses at UBC since 2017, after previously teaching at Shandong University (1998-2009), Cheongju University, Chungju National University (2007-2008), and institutions like BCIT Confucius Institute and Simon Fraser University.

Research Interests: Bin Zheng focuses on Chinese literature, classical poetry, and pre-modern history, with specialized expertise in Chinese metrical poem writing. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes student-centered teaching, fostering originality and critical thinking through innovative strategies. She actively promotes UBC's Chinese poetry courses with the verse: “莫道三山悬海外，诗心一瓣即兰槎” (Do not say the Three Mountains are suspended overseas; a single petal of poetic heart is the orchid boat).
