Bill McClanahan

Bill McClanahan is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the intersections of police power, visual/sensory culture, and ecology. He explores representations of police authority in non-human and ecological contexts, with secondary interests in Appalachian studies and rural criminology. His work has been published in high-impact journals like Theoretical Criminology and British Journal of Criminology, and he co-authored *Water, Crime, and Security in the Twenty-First Century* (2018) and authored *Visual Criminology* (2021). He is currently co-writing a book on police power with Tyler Wall.
