Bill Byrne

Bill Byrne is a Lecturer in the Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin. He is an internationally recognized multimedia digital artist, animator, game artist, and motion graphics designer with over 17 years of academic experience. Previously, he served as Academic Director of Media at the Art Institute of Austin (2010–2016), overseeing curriculum development for Animation, Game Art, Visual Effects, and Film programs.

Education: Master of Fine Arts in Photography and Related Media from New York’s School of Visual Arts. Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop. Professional clients include Electronic Arts, NBC, Tiffany & Co., ABC Sports, ESPN, Panasonic, Snickers, and RCA Records.

Research interests focus on motion graphics, animation, visual effects, and digital media education. His three textbooks—3D Motion Graphics For 2D Artists (2012), Creative Motion Graphic Titling (2010, co-authored), and The Visual Effects Arsenal (2009)—are foundational resources in digital media fields.

Personal: Born in Staten Island, New York; resides in Austin, Texas with his family.
