Dr. Bibek Chand is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs at the University of North Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Florida International University (2018), an M.A. in International Studies (2015), and a B.A. in International Relations & Political Science from Wartburg College (2012). His research focuses on security studies, Sino-Indian relations, small states' international strategies, and Indo-Pacific dynamics. He advises the Model United Nations Club at Gainesville Campus and has published extensively on buffer state theory, regional security architectures, and geopolitical strategy, including his 2023 book Reframing the Buffer State in Contemporary IR.
His academic work combines theoretical contributions with case studies analyzing Nepal's position between India and China, Indo-Japanese security partnerships in Southeast Asia, and the evolving Indo-Pacific framework. He teaches courses such as Asian Security, International Relations Theory, and Global Issues, integrating pedagogical innovations like Quality Matters standards into online education.
