Bianca Mastrominico

Bianca Mastrominico is a Lecturer in Drama and Performance at Queen Margaret University (QMU), serving as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Drama programme. She is affiliated with QMU's Culture in Society Research Centre and the Centre for Communication, Cultural & Media Studies. Her academic and artistic work spans intercultural performance practices, somatic training, and collaborative creation. Mastrominico co-founded Organic Theatre, an internationally recognized performance laboratory focused on innovative practice and pedagogy, which has received grants for projects across the UK and Europe. Her research explores masks, identity transformation, Theatre Anthropology, and affect studies in live performance.

Her educational background includes a degree in Letters and Philosophy from Università Federico II in Naples, with specialization in Theatre History and training in biomechanics, Indian dance, and theatre laboratory practices. She has extensive professional experience in experimental performance through her family’s theatre in Naples, shaping her process-led approach to performance creation. Mastrominico’s teaching emphasizes embodied knowledge and practice-based research, contributing to the development of QMU’s Drama & Performance curriculum. She co-translated Decroux’s Theatre Laboratory and authored articles on performance pedagogy and process for journals like New Theatre Quarterly.
