Betty Braxter is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing, affiliated with the Department of Health Promotion & Development. She serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and actively contributes to research and service initiatives.
Research Interests: Betty focuses on smoking cessation during pregnancy, relapse-prevention strategies for young women, and tobacco-related health disparities. She is currently exploring the use of doulas in postpartum smoking relapse prevention.
Teaching: She teaches NUR 1050/NUR 1052 - Nursing Care of Mothers, Newborns and Families to undergraduate students.
Service: Betty is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (Eta Chapter) and works on the 24-hour hotline for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape. She also participates in the Infant Mortality Working Group at the Center for Minority Health, Graduate School of Public Health.
