Prof. Bettina Bock is a Professor for Population Decline and Quality of Life in Northern Netherlands at the University of Groningen (RUG), Faculty of Spatial Sciences, Department of Cultural Geography. She concurrently holds a professorship in Inclusive Rural Development at Wageningen University. Her expertise spans rural sociology, spatial inequality, and participatory governance. She advises governmental bodies including the Ministry of the Interior (scientific reflection group on population decline) and the National Programme Groningen assessment committee.
Research focuses on depopulation challenges, sustainable rural futures, and community-driven initiatives.
