Betsy Bolton is the Alexander Griswold Cummins Professor of English at Swarthmore College, specializing in Romantic literature and environmental humanities. Her current book project explores celebrity and interiority in women Romantic writers. She integrates environmental studies with literary analysis through community-engaged fieldwork.
Her pedagogical innovations include digital storytelling projects documenting river ecosystems and climate fiction seminars. As former Environmental Studies chair, she established sustainability initiatives including campus food gardens and UN climate delegation programs. Fulbright projects in Morocco and Bhutan developed participatory documentary methods with traditional artisans.
