Bethany Cleeve is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Sciences at Bournemouth University, affiliated with the School of Health and Social Care. Her academic work integrates health psychology, mental health, and physical activity through qualitative methodologies. She is completing a PhD titled ‘The meaning of physical activity for people with anxiety’, using grounded theory to explore the complex relationship between anxiety and physical activity participation.
Her teaching focuses on courses such as Sport, Physical Activity and Health and Psychology of Exercise Behaviour, addressing public health challenges like cardiovascular disease, obesity, and mental health through physical activity interventions. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Health Sciences (2002) and a PG Cert in Academic Practice (2005).
Her research output includes a 2009 Journal of Sport and Tourism article examining non-host city residents’ perceptions of the 2012 London Olympics. Professional memberships include the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences. She is active on LinkedIn and Twitter (@BethCleeve).
