Beth Meeds is the Head of the GEP Subject Group and Deputy Head of Geography, Environment and Planning at Sheffield Hallam University's Department of the Natural and Built Environment. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and has over 25 years of experience in higher education, specializing in hydraulics, water engineering, and urban environmental systems. Her teaching spans Geography, Environmental Science, Architecture, and Architectural Technology courses, with a focus on practical laboratory and fieldwork.
Educational background includes a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Sheffield City Polytechnic, followed by a PhD (1995) and MSc in Urban Regeneration (2005). She completed a PGCE in 1998, enhancing her pedagogical expertise. Her leadership roles include Programme Leader for Urban and Regional Environment (7 years) and Quality and Standards Lead (3 years).
Research focuses on improving student engagement through innovative fieldwork and laboratory activities. Key publications address urban stormwater management and combined sewer overflow systems. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds First Aid certification.
