Beth McCuskey serves as Purdue University's Vice Provost for Student Life and Clinical Professor in the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation at the Polytechnic Institute. She oversees housing, dining, wellness programs, leadership development, arts initiatives, and family engagement services, all strategically aligned with academic outcomes.
She earned her bachelor's degree in economics and advanced degrees in higher education and industrial and labor relations from West Virginia University, culminating in a doctorate in higher education.
McCuskey's scholarly work focuses on transforming campus living into academic experiences through frameworks like Steps to Leaps for well-being and 'academicizing' auxiliary services. Her initiatives bridge operational units with educational goals, exemplified by residential learning communities such as the John Martinson Honors College.
As former president and foundation board chair of ACUHO-I, she co-edited 'Foundations: Strategies for the Future of Collegiate Housing' and is currently co-editing 'The Handbook of Well-being in Higher Education' for Oxford University Press.
Her leadership drives innovations including the Executive-in-Residence alumni program, sustainable housing expansion for enrollment growth, and the Roger C. Stewart Leadership Department, reinforcing Purdue's 'Boilermakers for Life' philosophy.
