Abrar Hammoud is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation at Purdue University’s Purdue Polytechnic Institute. She teaches courses integrating technology, design, and communication across disciplines, emphasizing the humanities’ role in STEM education. Her work spans the Polytechnic Institute, College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts, and College of Health and Human Sciences, engaging students at all undergraduate levels.
Hammoud co-leads the Teaching Excellence Collaborative, a faculty mentoring program focused on pedagogical innovation and instructional experimentation. She has developed international learning initiatives, study abroad programs, and collaborative art/technology projects to enhance student well-being. Her efforts have been recognized through awards such as the Provost’s Office Award for Academic Integration of Steps to Leaps, the Polytechnic’s Equity, Inclusion, and Advocacy Faculty Award, and TLI’s Outstanding Faculty in Learning Award.
Her contributions include mental health first aid training for over 100 Purdue community members and co-creating the Steps to Leaps Tip of the Week Series. She led projection art installations during the pandemic, fostering resilience through creative expression. Her pedagogical approach encourages students to embrace failure as a path to building grit and leadership skills.
