Beth A Funkhouser serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at Emory & Henry College’s School of Health Sciences, specializing in Exercise & Health Sciences and Pre-Health advising. She holds roles as a first-year and pre-health advisor, and previously worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the College’s Athletic Department.
Education:
- Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT), AT Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (2002–?)
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Kinesiology-Sports Medicine, University of Virginia
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Athletic Training and Physical Education, Emory & Henry College
Research/Teaching Focus: Athletic training, sports medicine, kinesiology, and pre-health career preparation. She teaches courses in Exercise Science, Health Sciences, General Studies, and the Core curriculum.
Professional Affiliations: Active member of NAAHP, NATA, NSCA, SEACSM, BASRaT, and the National Academies of Practice in Athletic Training. Served as Secretary of the Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Certifications: Certified Athletic Trainer, Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
