Besim Dragovic is an Assistant Professor in the School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment at the University of South Carolina. His research integrates petrochronology and geodynamics to study subduction zones, metamorphic processes, and crust-mantle interactions.
He earned a Ph.D. from Boston University (2013) and held postdoctoral positions at Virginia Tech and Boise State University. Current NSF-funded projects examine Alpine subduction thermal structures and New Zealand ophiolite tectonics.
Research employs garnet geochemistry (Li, Fe, Mo isotopes) to decode fluid-rock interactions in high-pressure terranes. Recent publications focus on subduction fluid cycling, serpentinite mobilization, and integrated petrologic-geodynamic modeling.
Teaching includes geochronology and solid earth processes. He advises three Ph.D. students and collaborates internationally on subduction zone projects.
