Besalú Llorà Emili

Emili Besalú Llorà is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Girona, where he specializes in Physical Chemistry. He is affiliated with the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) and leads the Theoretical Chemistry of Biosystems (TCBioSys) research group.

His research focuses on QSAR modeling, chemometrics, and the development of mathematical algorithms for predicting molecular properties. His work bridges theoretical and computational chemistry with applications in biosystems.

He has authored over 100 publications in international journals and book chapters, with more than 1600 citations in Web of Science and over 3500 in Google Scholar. His h-index is 26 (WoS) and 32 (GS) as of 2023.

His scientific awards include the Premi Antoni Martí i Franquès for the best doctoral thesis in chemical sciences in Catalonia and the Distinction for Teaching Quality Practice from the University of Girona in 2010.

He earned his Licentiate in Chemical Sciences and Master’s in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and his PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Girona. His doctoral work was recognized with a top award in its field.

He is actively involved in research and academic leadership, contributing to projects and publications in computational and theoretical chemistry.
