Dr. Bert van de Ven is an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University's Department of Philosophy within the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences. His research focuses on business ethics, professional ethics, and contemporary philosophy, particularly exploring corporate social responsibility, advertising ethics, and the philosophies of Emmanuel Levinas, Peter Sloterdijk, and Alasdair MacIntyre. He co-authored a paper awarded the 2009 Society for Business Ethics Best Paper Award.
He teaches courses on ethics in organizations, business ethics, contemporary philosophy, and critiques of instrumental reason. Current projects include editing a book on the meaning of work and analyzing Sloterdijk's perspective on labor's societal role.
His recent publications address corporate responsibility for human rights, Kantian critiques of moral institutionalism, and philosophical explorations of work's existential significance. Beyond academia, he serves as a workshop leader in business ethics at Wagner & Company.
Key areas of scholarly contribution include the intersection of business practices and ethical frameworks, the philosophical underpinnings of corporate governance, and applying existentialist thought to modern societal challenges.
