Prof. Bert Meijboom is a Professor of 'Organization of Healthcare Chains' at Tilburg University's Department of Management (TS Economics and Management). He leads research in healthcare operations, supply chain management, and service modularity through TRANZO, Tilburg's interfaculty health research program. His career includes 6 years in operations at Heineken Breweries before academia. He has held roles as Associate Professor (1994–2015) and Endowed Chair (2015–present).
His research focuses on healthcare networks, modular service provision, and improving care pathways. Recent work addresses palliative care integration in Belgium, continuity of pediatric anorexia treatment, and bundled payment impacts on cardiovascular care costs. He has supervised 6 PhD students and co-authored over 190 publications.
Awards include multiple 'Excellent Teacher Awards' (2009–2018) and the 2019 Chris Voss Best Paper Award. He actively collaborates internationally, co-leading projects like 'Action research on problematic proton therapy logistics.'
Key projects include optimizing care pathways for complex conditions (e.g., Down syndrome, chronic diseases) and exploring modular interfaces in healthcare systems. His teaching spans supply chain management, operations, and strategic management.
