Bernier-Rock

Bernier-Rock is a Lecturer in French at Western Carolina University's College of Arts and Sciences. Originally from Bordeaux, France, she joined WCU in 2021 after moving to the United States in 2019. Her academic credentials include MA and BA degrees from the University of Bordeaux.

Teaching focuses on French language instruction across multiple levels (101, 102, 231, 232) using scenario-based learning, games, and multimedia resources. As member of the Diversity Awareness Committee, she develops intercultural programming to bridge cultural divides and challenge stereotypes about Francophone cultures.

Research examines intercultural pragmatics in emotional expression between French and American speakers, sociolinguistic reflections of cultural values, and global variations of French and English. Current initiatives explore how language teaching can foster cultural awareness and debunk misconceptions about Francophone communities worldwide.
