Dr. Bernhard Siegmund is Group Leader for Organic Opto-Electronic Devices at Hasselt University's Institute for Materials Research (IMO-IMOMEC). He earned his Diploma (2013) and PhD in Physics from Technische Universität Dresden, developing a commercialized sensor technology that led to the founding of Senorics GmbH. With industry experience as R&D team leader at Heliatek, he specializes in organic photovoltaics, optoelectronic sensors, and light-matter interactions.
His research has been recognized with the Harry Dember Prize, Dresden Excellence Award, and Innovation Prize of the Saxonian Industry Association. Since October 2023, he holds a senior FWO postdoctoral fellowship. Current projects investigate ultra-strong light-matter coupling for optical filters, transparent organic photovoltaics, and luminescent solar concentrators.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on optoelectronic materials (50% of output), light-matter coupling phenomena (30%), and organic photovoltaic optimization (20%).
